PMAA Joins Combined Federal Campaign

This marks the first year that PMAA is participating in the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC)! Each year, the CFC makes it easy for federal employees and retirees to give to one or more vetted charities for any cause they’d like to support. You can donate online, of course, but one of the unique aspects of the CFC is that it also lets you give directly through a payroll deduction (not coincidentally, this is always the most popular option).

If you came to this post by way of our newsletter, then you already know how pumped PMAA is to be a part of the CFC this year. But why? Well, partly it’s because our participation is one more way that we make it easier for you to support all the networking, career-building, socializing, trivia, talks, and other activities we do. But our excitement goes beyond convenience, of course. Joining the CFC means PMAA is joining the world’s largest and most successful workplace charity campaign. It means that PMAA is playing our part to bring about positive change not on our own, but as part of a community of thousands of charities across the country. We are proud to be involved with an approach that reflects our own conviction – that no challenge is beyond our ability if we address it together. This year’s CFC, ‘Give Happy,’ is all about how, by donating together, we multiply our impact and at the same time multiply the warm glow we get by giving to a worthy cause.

So, are you a federal employee or retiree? Then GIVE HAPPY to the PMAA through the CFC so we can keep providing you, our members, with learning, connection, and fun for years to come! To get started, head over to GiveCFC.org and search for PMAA, or just use our code -- #16862. New to the whole CFC thing and want to test it out first? Why not just try $5 per paycheck?

As an aside, the history of the CFC is fascinating. Since the 1940s, multiple commissions and Administrations worked on a way to not only enable the generosity of federal employees to make meaningful impacts but also limit some of the hazards, like supervisors pressuring subordinates, that came along with on-the-job fundraising. Since its inception in 1961, the CFC has raised almost $8.7 billion for charities and people in need. You can read more about it on OPM’s page here.
